About Us
Maryville Foundation has been inspired by the Maryville Academy story. When founded in 1883 by the Archdiocese of Chicago, its purpose was to care for and educate children who were orphaned by The Great Chicago Fire and by two epidemics, cholera and yellow fever. As society’s needs changed so too did Maryville, providing consistent leadership and innovative solutions for the caring of children.
Today, no longer an orphanage, Maryville Academy’s mission is to protect children and strengthen families utilizing one of its 18 programs which fall under four overarching services: Early Childhood Engagement, Education, Family and Residential Care and Healthcare.
The Maryville Foundation was formed to help individuals and families plan their charitable giving. Donations including individual checks, stock donations or bequeaths can be directed to individual programs or left unrestricted. All charitable donations to the Foundation will be used solely to grow and sustain programs intended to protect children and strengthen families.
